We are Absolute Harmony, Royal Holloway’s one and only A Cappella group!
Welcome to the family! We are Absolute Harmony, Royal Holloway’s very own A Cappella vocal group and reigning Society of the Year!
We perform a wide array of original arrangements, from current chart-toppers to legendary classics, all in 5-part harmony with beatboxers!
We pride ourselves on our accessibility and inclusivity and we celebrate every single one of our members. Last year at the annual Society Awards we received the Sarah Parker Remond Accessibility and Inclusivity Award, a prestigious award recognising the work that the 2019/20 Committee did to champion inclusivity for our LGBTQ+, disabled and BIPOC members. This year our Committee has chosen, as it’s committee charity, to support The Survivors Trust, a fantastic charity whose work helps and supports victims of abuse.
Absolute Harmony truly is the most amazing University family.
The 2019/20 year was an absolute triumph and this year we cannot wait for even more music, laughs and fun! Whilst COVID-19 might have changed the way we do things, we are still ready to have the most fantastic year! Rest assured there will be more collaboration and more inclusivity than ever before – we pledge to shower our members with a choir full of love (from 2 metres away of course!) with countless socials, concerts (whether virtual or in-person) and workshops, collaborating with our Royal Holloway neighbours as well as national and international A Cappella choirs! Last year some of our highlights certainly involved working with other societies, whether that be the wonderful Performing Arts societies we have here on campus, or the brilliant UK University choirs we met at competitions and the Harvard Callbacks and Princeton Footnotes, who flew out all the way from the United States!
Saturday 20th March – AbHarm and Friends! Virtual Concert: Absolute Harmony is hosting a virtual collaborative concert alongside our performing arts friends at Royal Holloway, and some old off-campus friends too! As you may know, the performing arts have struggled during this pandemic and we would love for us all to come together and for our talents to be recognised during this difficult time.
We are working on collaborative performances with other societies, using our arrangements from this term. This will be hosting this via. YouTube Live, and we will be hosting a watch party during and after the event so that we can all celebrate together!
This is such an exciting event that we cannot wait for you all to be involved in!
National University Choir Competition (NUCC): This year, Hardcore have the exciting opportunity to be involved in the National University Choir Competition! This competition was set up by three alumni of the Cardiff University Show Choir as a way for universities to come together during this difficult academic year and have a friendly, exciting event to work towards! Our entry will be submitted virtually, using separately recorded videos and sound from each member of Hardcore and then they will be edited into one video. These performances will then be submitted to professional judges, and the competition will culminate in a virtual event to award the prizes.
We can’t wait for Hardcore to be involved in this and we hope that you’re all as excited as we are at this opportunity!
At the end of the year, we hold our Golden Vinyl Awards to celebrate the achievements of our members and to show our appreciation of their efforts. We truly value our members and it’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the end of a great year! This is capped off by our annual tour, where we get the chance to perform in the sunshine abroad! Past destinations have included Malta, Tenerife and Malaga. We can’t wait to share our love of A Cappella and get more people singing with us this year.
We are Royal Holloway’s one and only A Cappella choir! We believe in fun, selfies and unauditioned music 💜 Committee Charity: @thesurvivorstrustuk
